As a professional car photographer back in the '70s, I photographed the press V8 for several magazines and, owning an MGB GT at the time (I was a founder member of the MGOC), promised myself that I'd get one when I could afford it . . . which I did four years later and loved it. I kept it for three years before moving on to Porsche 911s but, looking back, it's still the car I most regret selling.

Inspiring person, so much to learn from her experience of life and her tenacity to complete any project she took up, no matter how indifferent and discouraging her own parents were. Glad she is getting some long overdue recognition for her passion for motor cycle adventure touring in the days when long distance communication was so difficult, and even ordinary maps were so scarce in many of the countries she covered.

I'm Shocked that John Cobb ever tried to run this boat (even in tests) because it was structurally unsound from the beginning - built that way. Poor man. Trying to build any record boat in Britain with the materials restrictions of the time, was utter folly. It should have been built using one class of materials, with consistent Young Modulus. Possibly by a seaplane fabrication company.

Wonderful Bugattis! What a wonderful exhiibition of the French coachbuilders of the 1930s! The 1960s-70s Italian designs do not compare: they're not inferior, but they represent a different period.

I met John whilst we were flying to Grenada on a 777. He came out of the cockpit and spoke to us in 1st class. he said to me I think we have something in common. I had a short sleeve cardigan on with Concorde on it. He said you got the short sleeve cardigan and I have got the Tie. He said only Concorde Captains get given the Concorde tie. Since then we have become very close friends. He is a lovely man. He took me to Brooklands and I flew Concorde in the simulator with him.

Great video & interesting history on this fantastic plane. I only ever flew on one BAC 1-11 a Dan Air evening flight home from Malaga - Gatwick in 1981. My Dad had been chatting to the head steward, and informed him that he & my Mum were retired cabin crew for BEA(where they met)..anyway a long story short, he asked the Captain if my brother & I could visit the cock pit. In no time at all we were up there and had a lovely clear night view of mid/northern Spain. Both flight crew were extremely accommodating, and had my brother and I changing light bulbs and even(very supervised) allowed us to slightly turn the yolk for a subtle bank. Wow, this was something we will never forget. Anyway after a long time, our Father came into the cockpit and thanked the pilots for their amazing demonstration & putting up with all our questions. Still though, the Captain wanted us to see the soon approaching channel Islands, so my Dad had to go back to his seat and wait lol. After seeing Jersey & Guernsey lit up, we thanked the pilots so much, exited and sat down just as we had started our decent. What an experience for me(10yrs old) and my bro(12yrs old). G-BDAT was the aircraft - as my Father photographed it pre-boarding. I wish I could have written down the names of the ever so friendly pilots & all crew in fact for that very memorable flight❤️.

Cool! I built a model of a car I am building now but in Meccano. It's a 30s car so it seems more appropriate to use period Meccano than modern Lego. I do still have my Lego 8860 set from when I was a kid and still sometimes rebuild that.

Very interesting, thank you. I had seen these when they first started in the US but I was already building an Austin 7 special and now a Riley so didn't need another project! An Austin 7 Cyclekart isn't much smaller than a full size one! Pity they couldn't drive on the Brooklands banking remaining.

This car used to belong to my grandfather, Pete, she was his pride and joy. (He had two 1930s cars but this one was his favourite) You mentioned about the RAF (royal air force) sticker - he started for his national service and continued with it for a lot of his life and loved it. He passed away in January 2015 and the car was bought by this family in the August/September of 2015. I remember being a young girl and riding in the back to go to shows and rallys, getting out in the rain to collect awards and people waving at us in the road because we had such a unique car. It’s nice to see that someone else is enjoying the car and has not given up on it with the many problems it had when purchased 😬😂, however I do miss the beautiful dark green paint colour she used to have to match the seats. If you would like to know anything else about the car reply to my comment 😊

Congratulations Brooklands , I Really enjoyed the excellent video coverage of this event. Lovely to see Mike & Jock. Brings back great memories for me. Jocks memory of what he remembers about flying faster than a bullet (in answer to the question from the young boy) is how I remember my first flight on Concorde, it was a test flight after a maintenance check. (In fact I believe we had we had a CAA chap on board) and if memory serves just those in the flight deck, a few guests for the experience of the flight and a couple of engineers, monitoring/testing. Yes it was November early evening (nearly dark) when we took off. We headed off toward the Atlantic and I remember the acceleration down the runway, the "Going over the humpback bridge " feeling after the reheats were switched off as the "Noise Abatement procedure " was initiated. Then heat on the side of my face from the window, it got "Lighter" outside as we caught the time line & what was night became day. Also I remember we turned right a full 180 degrees at Mach 2 to return home , you could see the darkening of the sky & the curvature of the Earth. I got lucky as we all put our name in the hat to get the chance of sitting in the flight deck for the landing at LHR. Wonderful wonderful experience .

Brilliant video, one of the best I've seen on RUclips for a long time. I know the Banbury to Oxford road incredibly well, having grown up and worked in and around Banbury for the last 52 years, after my parents moved there when i was 4. The Oxford road, as its known in Banbury must've been no more than a dirt track when The Beast drove along it. In fact i can imagine The Beast coming into Banbury back in the day and turning left at the cross roads by the 3 Pigeons pub and heading north up the Warwick road. In fact they could have stopped at the 3 Pigeons for a pint. My close shave with the Oxford road is a far bit slower. I was doing about 90 mph in a 60 mph limit in my Ford Sierra i had back then, and i blew past a junction just as a certain red Rover 827i pulled up. Shit coppers!! They followed me all the way home!!!! Very important lesson learnt, as i could have lost my licence, learn by experience as they say!! Now I'd think teararsing bastard!!!

What a fantastic car. I've seen it many times on RUclips or on tv but unfortunately not yet live and raw at the same space. Watching Duncan's talk on RUclips was brilliant. This car knocks all other cars for 6, especially any so called "supercars". In fact, that term should be bettered for this car and this car alone, as it truly is a hypercar!!!
